The Buttery Expands

The South End  Buttery on 314 Shawmut Ave. has expanded. Right next door to the main cafe and restaurant is a small crisp space where there are take out meals available. Want to have the Buttery menu for dinner but would like to dine at home? No problem. You can get many of the dishes served in the main restaurant to go. The pork shops are particularly inviting. They also sell crackers, cookies, cakes, teas, and coffees. It is a wonderful spot for lunch or dinner or for a mid day snack. This is one of my favorite places to eat in the south end.

autumn in Boston

Halloween in Boston starts early, especially in Boston's south end. This artistic display is in front of the Five Seventy Market on the corner of Tremont and Warren street. The south end has a large population of young families with small children so All Hollows Eve is a magical time for the neighborhood.

South End Experience

As you stroll into the South End from Back Bay there is an energy of understated creativity. It is an area where local artists create and sell contemporary art, unique retail stores are plentiful, and extraordinary restaurants are on every corner. From the Back Bay T station to Harrison Avenue there are contempletive public spaces that invite you to enjoy a reflective moment. Ambling toward Tremont Street, you encounter a multitude of stunning architecture, and if you look down side streets, you can catch a glympse of private gardens.

This little public garden is on Dartmouth St., just down from Columbus St. Perfect for reading the newspaper or to enjoy a quiet moment before you enter the thick of the South End.
